It's hard to avoid driving if you live on Long Island. Long Islanders love driving ... and the bigger the vehicle the better according to some people. Go into any parking lot on Long Island and you'll be surrounded by SUVs. In addition to being bad for the environment, this tremendous consumption of gas is bad for your wallet. Even if you drive a compact car and not a truck, you may be looking for ways to use less gas or at least spend less money on the gas you do buy. Use the Long Island Rail Road to get to Manhattan, Queens, or Brooklyn. Travel on buses to get around Nassau County or Suffolk County or into Queens from Nassau County. |
