Long Island has a number of thriving communities with people that work every kind of job that you can imagine. Businesses, both small and large are booming as well is Long Island's economy. The Long Island Works Coalition, a permanent coalition of business people and educators, is the first of its kind in our area and is being anchored by four very strong "links," Bell Atlantic, the New York Institute of Technology, Nassau County Industrial Development Agency, and Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency.The objectives of the Long Island Work Coalition will be to identify the critical skills that are, and will be in the future, in demand by employers on Long Island, and to develop initiatives designed to ensure that Long Island has a sufficiently large workforce that possesses those skills. This effort is vital to the future of both the Long Island economy and our education community. |
