Savannah's is located at the east end of the Southampton railroad station (in the building which formerly housed Southampton's Village Hall). Although this restaurant's name might lead one to believe that the food is southern American, the menu here boasts a satisfying variety of cuisines, including seafood (such as a very nice miso glazed monkfish with soba noodles), steaks (22 oz. bone-in rib eye with creamed spinach and tuscan fries), Italian (a variety of homemade pastas and excellent risottos, add a 1¼ lb. lobster:), and (yes) southern American (Louisiana bayou roasted poussin with black beans, long grain rice and caramelized plantains). Wood oven pizzas with a variety of toppings are available. Overall, the food is wonderful. If it is available, do not miss the fried green tomatoes and eggplant milanese with brie and pancetta appetizer. For risotto fans, there are no less than three types (risotto with fresh shaved summer truffles, seafood risotto, and risotto with fresh porcini mushrooms & Bel Paese cheese). Other noteworthy dishes are crispy wood oven Long Island duckling, spinach fettucine with beef tenderloin tips, grilled whole branzino with roasted vegetables couscous. The menu includes a nice selection of salads and desserts (their "Best Banana Pie This Side of Georgia" probably is). |
